78 Regal Reverse Lights
I have a 1978 Regal and the backup lights stay on from reverse through neutral. I am wondering where I can make an adjustment to the park neutral switch, if this is what I need to adjust. I have search in the console(floor shifter) and on the transmission and behind the dash. Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated. Normally this is not a problem but winter is setting in and it is cold blooded. I have to put it in neutral when I approach the first couple of stop lights and I'm afraid I'll freak the car behind me when they see reverse lights.

Re: 78 Regal Reverse Lights
I don't know if a '78 is similar to the newer models, but on my '94 the reverse lights are controlled by a switch package on top of the transaxle that is activated by the shift lever. I don't think there is any adjustment possible. When mine went bad the shop charged $118 for the part (commonly available for many GM cars) and an hour of labor.
Maybe you should try getting the warm up problem taken care of (increase idle speed a little?). Good luck. |

Re: 78 Regal Reverse Lights
As far as I know, at least on the non-console shifter models, it's right in with the shifter, Don't know what to say beyond that
