Mosh

Anyone heard this new Eminem song? I listened to it online, and I thought it was really good. I knew he had some strong convictions, but never this kind of thing. I think its very interesting.

Please dont reply with how much Eminem sucks either.

Good song overall. Not big on the "fuck bush" part but otherwise what I see as the overall meaning of the song, to stand up for what you believe in, is good. Pretty tired of singers trying to make political statements. Especially if they don't vote.

Finally, a newer rap song that i like. I like the message that is in this song, but it seems like he meant for this song to come out before the election, the way some of it's worded.

Re: Mosh

I'm judging by the "reviews" it's an anti-political rap song. Another, anti-political rap song at that. I'm sick of these anti-fucking-everything songs.

Eminem has gone from "ganstar" "rap" to just plain "shiter, worse" "rap".
A change from "bleed bitch bleed" to "i'm calling all girls", what the...?
It seems all they are trying to do, is target younger, and younger, and younger generations, as they are slowly realising the Tupac fans from 1992-1995 are getting old, and they are still trying to dominate the mainstreem market, and "ganstar rap" is old, so this new brand of "nu-rap" (in retrospect to nu-metal) to make more money, even if it does mean, the artist selling out for everything him/her/they stand/s for.

By the way, you mosh to rock, not rap [/smart arse]

I agree. Eminem is moving away from his whole "FUCK YOU" attitude to "I want to be funny, and care" attitude. The only thing with his new song not mosh, but the other one, is that he's very good at knowing what sales. And cheesey pop sounding crap sells. Eminem knows exactly what he's doing by making money off of crapy songs, that he knows are crappy. I just wish he'd go back to his original sound from the Slim Shady LP and Marshal Mathers cd as well.

Re: Mosh

I bought the Marshal Mathers EP and liked it, that was in about 1999. I don't like it now, but I don't hate it either. I was listening to Eminem before he went "mainstreem" in early 2000 with "the real slim shady", although one of my mates was listening to him before the LP album came out.

It's a lot what happened to metallica and their fans between 1993, and 95, when they put out an album that's completely differant, and seems to be a more "fabricated sound" in the name to sell, they lost fans, but, Eminem and his fellow rap artists (such as snoop dogg) have managed to change styles, and in fact bring in a more wider targer market, therefore opening up higher grades of mainstreem (movies, radio, commercials, advertisements ETC), which is what happened to metallica (minus the movies part).

I can name only a select few of part-time mainstreem artists who haven't done this "change". Slayer, AC/DC, Zeppelin and Manson (just to name a few off the top of my head).
But my fave artists, one including The Offspring have done the whole "catchy=money" cliche in music today.

It seems the entire industry, including award shows, and music television, have ignored talent, honesty, hard work and integrity, all in the name of making a quick buck.

But in the end, it all boils down to "what sells" and "what doesn't". And if it doesn't, it's not on (one hit wonders are a prime example)

pitty....

*ed*
And until the shit music stops selling, we'll be bombarded with this everywhere we go.
Until then, "Raining Blood", "Master Of Puppets", and "Smash" will remain in my car CD player, and when I drive past, you will hear it

Re: Mosh

I dont understand why people allways say that artists "sell out." Exactly what have they sold out? They became artists to not only have their opinions heard but to also make money. You'd be crazy to think that artists only joined to spread out a general message...

The only reason for the "Fuck You" era so to say, was to get some media attention and to just let people know that hes here to stay. Now that hes established that, he can leave it behind, and do wat he wishes.

Personally i dont like Eminem's humorous songs, i like his more serious side, but not the psychotic side about killing his mom etc. Hes a great lyricist, and if you listen to his lyrics you can see how good he is, even when he produces shit.

Personally im not a big fan of the song "Mosh" but his new album is pretty damn good in my opinion. With such songs as "Mockingbird","Toy Soldiers" and "Crazy in Love."

Re: Mosh

Eh, the trouble with mainstream music today is everything has to be catergorized to make money.

If you cant catergorize it, how are you going to market it? Where are you going to play it?

Beyond all that, Eminem makes a pop song to make people buy, so they listen to the other songs and hear his message.

So whether it be old metal or new rap, it's all cliche' in someway.

Or maybe Shady is actually becoming more mature. Maybe he is slowly steering away from "gansta" rap. Actually, I don't think Eminem ever qualified as a gansta rapper. I just can't compare him to 2 Pac, Dr. Dre, Ice Tea, etc. Those are just a few rappers that come to mind when I hear gansta, not Eminem. Eminem was the rapper who said what ever he wanted just to piss you off.
