Alternator Belt Doesn't Like My 91 GL ~ HELP!!!

hello!
i'm having a problm with my new 91 Gl. it has the 16V 2.0L and i cant keep a alternator belt on the car for more than one trip one way. (20 mi or so) ive been stranded 3 time because it hops or breaks without notice. new alternator, new battery, 2 gatorback belts and one VW belt broke on me. i'm taking it in to a repair shop today because i'm PO'd about my 1 week old car breaking down 3 times in under 4 days! but if anyone has any info on what may be doing this, i would like to be able to give the repair shop some kind of guidance if theres a common problem with these.
