you may remember me from before...but i got another quick question, compared to a b16a3, how much harder is it to swap with a b16b in a auto 95 hb dx? and can it even be done?

If you are considering a B16B and want opinions, ask Ricochet's opinion, as he has a B16B in his EK hatch.
On a side note, a B16B swao should have a LSD tranny, though you can get a JDM SiR2 B16A with LSD tranny also (since it came as an option, you'll need to specify that when you order it from somewhere).

It's a pain in the ass to swap this expensive bastard into a usdm Civic because the jdm ctr is right hand drive, which means their ecu's are on the left. This means while fabricating a new wiring harness you have to extend all ~40 of those little stupid wires over to the right side on our cars. For your 92-95, you'd have to get those ten billion dollar motor mounts from www.ha-sport.com also. Once you get her all hooked up and ready to go, you get the pleasure of realizing you just spent $4,000+ for a torqueless engine that still won't beat mustang gt's in a straight line. However, it is a fun little engine that could if you have the money and don't want to go boost. With a Spoon 1.8 stroker kit and a nice i/h/e setup, it will sound like a dream and perform like a champ on an autocross or road course. |

Re: b16b
sell it, get a manual and then swap. Converting that shit from auto to manual is more of a waste of money and hassle than it's worth

Re: b16b
I love the looks of 95 hb's, and they're lighter than a pubic hair. I've never done an auto-manual swap but some people have said it's actually pretty easy. I would suggest going to a junkyard and tell them you need to do this, and they should be able to gather up all the pieces into a box for you (assuming they have a 92-95 Civic, won't matter coupe or hb). You can start out with www.car-part.com for a list of parts/yards in your area.

ok so heres the thing.....all my life i wanted a 92-95 hb. so when i'm finally settled and have the money i went ahead and started searching. most of what i could find in hawaii were burnt out cars or hb's with major damage. so when i found this one, i was eager. it was previously owned by a granny, and checked out A ok with carfax. only thing is that it is automatic......oh well, i wanted it too bad anyways. so scrap the idea of me selling it and getting another. Richochet, you've probably seen the motors from hmotorsonline.com. some come with a complete swap tranny and all. would it be alright to use the tranny that comes with the motor. second, if i were to just leave my car with an auto tranny, what could i do as far as putting in new motors. or could i just change the engine head and block to turn it into a d series vtec engine? thanks for the help by the way.

Re: b16b
It would be alright to use the tranny that comes with those swaps, but there's a lot of parts involved in a auto to manual conversion, less the tranny plan on spending anywhere between $300-$400 in parts to convert it along with the labor involved. Cheapest I was ever quoted was $800 just for labor.
If you leave your car an auto the best you can do is a D-series VTEC motor. Either a D16Z6 or D16Y8. I'd go with a D16Z6 cause that will be just complete drop in and bolt on basically. Just have to wire it for VTEC with a VTEC ECU.
