97 Blazer - Am I Done Yet??

My Blazer has 186k miles on it, and I'm really wanting to keep it until I HAVE to get rid of it. I really like not having that monthly car payment nut.

I've read through the forums, and I think I've encountered all of the major issues with the 97 Blazer.

Upper/Lower Ball Joints
Brakes & More Brakes
Fuel Pump Replaced

And just this week, the Ignition Switch problem.

So - anyone know of any other major issues that I should be watching for?? I'd like to nip any further issues early if possible.

Thanks

Wiper pulse board.

These units have a tendancy to only work when they're not needed.
(perhaps yours was replaced already)

There have been recalls for side-view mirror wiring faults, and lap-belt replacements.

This and what you listed are the major headaches.
Everything else will be normal wear & tear items
(belts, alternator, starter, squeaks,rattles,etc.)

Re: 97 Blazer - Am I Done Yet??

You basically have everything fixed that is prone to failure.

Just keep everything greased properly and lube the front end every oil change.

Where exactly (how many places) should I be lubing my front end? I've in the past just sprayed white lithium grease in all the areas that look like needed it.

LOL!

There is 11 grease fittings in the front end.

I suggest you buy a grease gun and shoot them all full of grease.

Man, the front is so easy to turn and smooth.
