Redlining it

Just curious, but on my 01 z24 the tach shows a dotted red line at like 5800 rpm and goes solid at 6500... which one is the actual red line? would i be ok to shift at 6500? or should i at 5800? i have 75k miles on it so i know its broken in...

Re: Redlining it

The dotted red line is like a warning area, the solid red line means exactly that, red line. I'm not sure what the EXACT red line is that GM lists for your car, though. It could be a hair different from your tach.
