another exhaust ticket.

buddy of mine got pulled over for having exhaust that was "too loud" the cop pulled him over, made him put the car in park, and hold the RPM's at 4500, then read the decibel level with some kind of meter. 105 dB. fix-it ticket, has to go to some station to get it checked off.

Re: another exhaust ticket.

I would have cheated. Let it down to below 4000. Plus, when you're driving, in top gear, 4500 rpm is probably triple digits. He should have told him that he doesn't go that high, and he shifts at like 3000. Plus, how is he supposed to fix it? Take it all off? Or just put a silencer? What is the range that it's supposed to be in?

Re: another exhaust ticket.

Put a silencer in, or replace the stock exhaust (temporarily) take it to the court, pay your $30, go home and replace it.

Do they actually check in court, or can you lie?

Re: another exhaust ticket.

you need the ticket signed off by an officer (any officer can do it)

Re: another exhaust ticket.

not a hard fix just put a resonator in the tip then you can adjust whenever you want. Get teh ticket signed off by any local officer and be done with it, open your resonator up full blast and drive home.

they make all those test at 4k rpm as a bench mark for top rpm for most stock behicle and for the usage of full throttle on the road, most cars will shift off at around 4k when your getting on it with an auto tranny.

Re: another exhaust ticket.

what if you didnt have a tach in the car. also 4000 rpms is alot to ask of me with my big block suppose im low on oil and i hold my engine at 4 grand for the cop and suck a valve or throw a rod? is the state gonna buy me a motor. If i was ever asked by a cop to do this i would shut the motor down and refuse to run the engine for him. Then take any ticket he gives me to court.

Thats like I have a 90 F250 dsl truck. That thing is a beast. This thing has a 4 inch hole in the back plate of the muffler and a 2 inch hole in the bottom rear right under the other. No mater how high the rpm is (it red lines at 3500) I have cops always looking at me when ever I drive by them. But they must see the truck and just think "That thing is such a POS the paper work ain't worth it." It is so loud you can hear it coming for over 2 blocks away! But I haven't got one yet, but the day is coming.... And 4000 rpm is just alot on any motor. That makes my mothers car wine like crazy...
