newbie with story
Hey all,
i'm kinda new here, posted a froum once a few weeks ago but haven't been here since. Just looking to get my name out as i plan on being a steady participant. So on to my story. I was out drivin downtown at about 11 o'clock in the Bonneville, just rollin along lookin for something to do. I'm on 8th ave i think, heading out of downtown to hit the exits for memorial and crowchild, about 7 blocks in, stopped at a red light. On my left pulls a 2002 Jetta with a kid and a backwards hat. On my right pulls a 2000-2001 Grand Am GT with an older guy driving. Both cars were revin to beat heck, and i figured hell, i've got a supercharger, why not? The light turned green and i hit it. I've never punched it in the car before this off the start, and i tell ya, that 4 speed auto front drive supercharged V6 REALLY kicks!! So anyways, we all kinda squeeled the tires and that, and the Jetta actually stayed with me better then the Grand Am, which is was surprised at. We hit the lights perfect, and it was a drag race straight down to the exit of Crowchild where i turned off. I whipped them both, and the top speed I hit was right around 200 km/hour...........i think that's around 120-140 mph, somewhere in there. My question to you guys, is how did the VW Jetta keep up better then the Grand Am GT? I imagined the Grand Am has a far superior horsepower ratio, not to mention more torque. The only thing the VW would have is the fact that it's lighter. What happened??

That is a good question.
1. Grand AM GTs aren't that fast, you want the GXT for good speed. It is supercharged as well. 2. To keep up with you that Jetta couln't have been stock. Those cars are extreemly slow. My sister had one and I got spanked by a four cylinder Jeep. |

My Psyc teacher at school drove a newer Jetta he had a chip and I don't know what else he was in front of me one day when I was going to class. he got down on it pretty hard but it wasn't really that hard to keep up. the Jetta you raced was probably pretty worked over. you can make them pretty fast right? (look at the one in the fast and the furious
) j/k

if tht jetta had the VR-6 or the 1.8t you could have easily been spanked, they are both offered with a 5 speed, be glad you didn't get beat, they can haul. gm never made a supercharged grand am production car , only show cars, i wish they did though

You're right, I am thinking of the Gand Prix. They put supers in some of those.
