I was wondering if you tune up your car for performance, and give it more hp, will your gas mieleage improve? So the typical small hp gains would be bolt ons right (i/h/e)? 300zx fuel filter and pump, Then what can you do after that?
Another question, i knoww its been mentioned b4 but im too lazy to look it up. What do you need to do to the ka (preparations) to put a turbo on it? And next is how much does a decent suspension tune up cost? Im assuming its expensive fropm what i see, $2g's? Now, is it worth to fix up the tranny or to get a better one. I thought 240 had 155 whp, butlater on i read that its 135 whp, so im guessing some power was lost durinmg the conversion from revolutions to the wheel on the tranny or something with it. Is there something that can be done? |

doing basic breathing mods will help improve gas mileage. that is only if your going part throttle like cruising or just driving around locally. but when you get on the throttle and go WOT then the car's fuel economy will be worse.
i basically can get 300 miles per tank when i drive highway and traffic in nyc. with 300 miles i only use up 13 gallons out of the 16 gallon tank. when i drive all highway, i can get 330 miles and still only use 13 gallons. however when i floor it a few times, i can use up as much as 1/8 of a tank!!!

WOT means wide open throttle basically 100%
breathing mods only work like he said in regular driving conditions for the turbo one you should really just look it up alot of people won't post it here and i dont know the entire list off my head, I would go ahead and rebuild the engine, use of forged internals always a plus and would be cheaper in the long haul, gaskets, head work if you have money soo it can be done while the motor is open[valve cams etc.], exhuast, hoses, piping, fuel pump[if your going to go high HP], injectors, larger maf plus controller for it lik SAFC, new radiator[thicker ie KOYO] would be nice if funds allow, the rest would be turbo and turbo parts i think oh ya i would think something would need to be done about the ECU ya same here if im just driving around normally i get like 300 and i always try to leave the reserve amount in my tank like 3 gallons, but if i really gas it or race i can watch the needle start dropping |

Re: Does more hp = better gas mileage and other questions...
wide open throttle..
to prep a ka for turbo, you can spend anywhere from $1500 to $6000.. it all depends on how much power you want.. the less you spend, the less boost you should run, vice versa.. but since you asked, rods and pistons, mafs, lines, fuel pump and filter, intake and exhaust (3" exhaust for turbo, 2.5" for na, so i suggest waiting for the turbo to put the new exhaust on) suspension can be anywhere from $700 (kyb agx shocks and eibach springs from ebay) to $2600 (apex'i coilovers), depends on how picky you are about suspension.. ask guys at www.cardomain.com about their suspension, they always give good answers, instead of asking here where you will be somehow flamed for it.. your trannie question.. i don't really understand it.. you're asking if there's something you can do to it to get more hp???? when hp is measured, it can be looked at from the crank or at the wheels. the whp rating is usually about 80% of the crank hp i'm assuming cause of the friction between the crank and the pavement. thats just the way it is.. i'm not sure if that answers your questions..but there you go
