can injectors get louder than normal.

my car had a very quiet ticking, adjusted the valves and still did it, tore of the valve cover again and readjusted to a tight minmum spec so Id be sure it wasnt the lobes clicking on the followers or followers on valves. now it still does it and sounds like it is the injectors. I know they are pretty noisy, or at least have ben on all my hondas and my friends, but it soudns a bit off of a normal injector click im use to hearing.

what can cause this?

Im thinking about removing the clip from an injector one by one and running the car and seeing if the odd sound goes away when one isnt opening.

I wanna know for sure though this wont hurt anything, I dont see how but on my mustang once, I took off the stock intake which had the MAF and I think the IAT sensors on it and just left them unplugged while I had a hondas intake sticking out the hood to start it and rev it just to hear what it would sound like, ran perfect, and hooked everything back up and still ran perfect for almost a week then all of the sudden the dealer (took it in for a different problem) said the MAF and IAT se3nsors were bad and needed replaced.

one reason I dont really believe them is I think they wanted out of the major problem theyd have to fix, and since I hadnt reset the computer from knowing those sensors were unplugged(no CEL tho) they musthave read the ECU and saw those and threw in old shitty ones for me to agree that was the problem cuz I told em no its runni gfine I dont have 300+ bucks and when I picked it up it ran like SH**, backfired a ton, had no power AT ALL.

so I dont think I hurt the sensors, how could I, didnt even have em plugged in, but not sure and injectors arent cheap either so I dont wanna chance it.

Re: can injectors get louder than normal.

You probably won't be able to hear the injectors over the motor running like crap due to the injector being unhooked. LOL If you can hear it while sitting in the car with the windows up and the hood closed then you have something that is abnormal.

Re: can injectors get louder than normal.

I actually guessed and unplugged #3 cuz the sound seemed loudest there, and it did almost go away, plugged it back in and sound was back.

all that really happened was idle jumped, still ran smooth.

this one is really weird though, when I start driving there is a loud ticking that doesnt stop, but doesnt sound like from straight ahead of me, more passenger side(axle or tranny) so I stiop anmd it keeps going, ok so now its not axle and most likely not tranny, but I put er in reverse and back up about 5 feet and it stops and never comes back til the car cools. its done it twice now and reverse gets rid of it both times so far.

I cant wwait to get this beats home and start building the engine, looks like Im gonna have plenty of time and spare $$$.

talked to my insurance today, they are dropping me on december 7th and wont insure me again cuz they say 23 points they wont insure. and it was hard enough finding them. so Im gonna have to walk it for 3 years to clean up.

yeah it went from 130-160-180-235-one month left in 3 days. my policy lapsed and I was late on the renewal and they cancelled me and on reinstatement they reran my record and found all my new stuff.

anyways I think Im just gonna rob my B18's injectors when I get home, or order some dirt cheap used off ebay and see if they dont make the noise, cuz with #3 disconnected it quieted way down. my friends got a newer B16 and I think hes upgrading soon and I installed his fuel rail, filter, FPR and clutch for him so I should get em for free
