a simple question -- where is the check engine reset switch located for my 1998 escort?

I'm not aware there is one...

You can clear codes by...

1. OBD-II scan tool...Autozone used to clear the codes if you asked but now there appears to be a rule they can't...maybe got sued when an engine blew because owner didn't fix a problem after autozone told owner the problem.

2. Remove negative lead from battery for a few minutes....erases the computer memory. You lose your radio presets, tho.

Now, if you haven't fixed the problem that caused the check engine code, it will be back.
