Smile villager help needed

Hello, i have a 94 mercury villager, it used to run great then one day it started acting up. If you stepped on the gas the motor would rev-up to about 1500-2500rpm and then drop down again. after it would warm up the problem would go away. Gradually it took longer and longer for it to warm up and the problem to go away, and now it don't go away at all. If driving it won't go more than 20-25mph if it's in park with the motor running idle is perfect. while still in "park" i held the gas pedal to the floor and still the motor revs up and down up and down as if i were pushing the gas pedal up and down real fast. it revs no-more than 2000-2500rpm before it drops back down to about 1500 and revs back up again. has anyone ever herd of this? i doubt it's a tranny problem. i think it's a censor as i have replaced fuel filter and air filter and other regular maintenance. It has 119,000 miles on it. I'd appreciate it if you would post a reply here or email me at [email protected]

Re: villager help needed

Hesitation or stumble during acceleration?
1.-ignition system not operating properly OR
2.-dirty or clogged fuel injector(s) OR
3.-low fuel pressure, check for proper operation of the fuel pump and for restrictions in the fuel filter or lines OR
4.-fuel injection or engine control systems malfunction...
cheers
