Re: new vs. old

New as in 350Z vs Past Z? Or Z32 vs Z31? I like the 1970 240Z. But all Z's are nice.

Re: new vs. old

1990-96 look best in my opinion if only we could have the tranny and engine of a 350Z
350Z looks wussy compared to 300ZX

Re: new vs. old

Longnose Z33 is nice IMO. You really wouldn't want a 6 Speed in our cars. I also wouldn't trade our VG30DETT for their VQ30DE.

Re: new vs. old

out of all the Z's, the z32 has to be the best looking. and the twin turbo even makes it better.
1. Z32
2. 350Z.
3. Z31
4. 240Z
5. 280ZX
6. 280Z
7. 260Z

well....i would take any older model Z over a 350z. i do not like the styling at all. call me old fashioned but to me, i think nissan could have done better. either that or maybe i am tired of seeing them.
matter of fact, there isnt alot of new cars period that i like. i think some of the best looking cars for my style wore made in the early-mid 90's. 300zx, rx7, supra, 3000gt, etc...

I'll drink to that! I think we don't like the Z33 as much becuase it's over produced. They should have a set limit of production. I doubt the Z33 will ever be a collector car, sigh...

Re: new vs. old

z32 without a doubt, i love the body style of the Z32, i dont like the body of the Z31, i seen a datsun 240 for sale, looked nice with woodgrain interior, i like the 350Z tho, they also can come twin turbo, i seen a blue 350Z with greddy tt, all the works looked tit, but yes i do love my Z32 even tho they are extremly hard to work on

I'm a firm believer that a lot of the best sports cars ever made were made or designed in the 90s...Z32...RX-7...MKIV Supra...3000GT...this was when the Vettes were really starting to get fast...Porsche 944(T) was still around...Integras...NSXs...all these PHENOMENAL CARS came out of the 90s. This was due to the fierce competition for the sports car section of the car buyer's market...when people demand better cars, better cars get built. Now everyone's perfectly content with such mediocre bullshit...it'll probably be a while until that competition rises up again, if it ever does.

Anyway...New vs. Old...it depends on what you're looking for in a Z.

Simplicity - go with a 240/260/280...little simpler than the Z31.
Value - Z31 NA...VERY cheap to buy and own. Very reliable, too.
Best bang for the buck on a budget - go with the Z31T...not horribly difficult to work on...very cheap to buy and own...helluva bang for the buck when you don't have enough to spend on a Z32TT or don't want to fork over the cash.
Looks - Z32 NA...beautiful, timeless design that will be great to look at for many years to come.
All out, balls to the wall performance - go with the Z32TT...seen more than one running 10s on stock turbos.
Higher end value and all around performance - Z33...don't know who's driven one and who hasn't, but I've been lucky enough to drive 2 of them. They're very balanced cars. Great handling, great acceleration, good looks...all for a decent price tag. Very nice cars...drive one if the opportunity arises.

I love all Z's, even the sluggish 260z, and the identity-crisis 280zx. If i were to rate them it would go like this:

240z
280z
300zx (z32)
350z
300zx (z31)
280zx
260z

But they are all Z's and therefore awesome!

Well I've got 3 different ones and you question is like asking what is the best sex I ever had. There all great, even the worse of the lot, if there is one.
Just got back from a car show in Vages and Nissan had 4 different Zed's showing, and the one i'd pick if I had to choose would be the proto type 350Z with a VK45DETT 6speed setup. Killer
But you can't knock the one below, which is a 350Z 35th year with 300HP NA engine and 6 speed only. Comes stock with 18" wheels and a few other goodies plus tweeked supension for handling.
