2000 Taurus Engine Light
My 2000 Taurus has an engine light located by the gas gage and recently just came on and has stayed on. Is this the equivalent of the check engine light? No manual so I don't know for sure what this is?

Re: 2000 Taurus Engine Light
If the light bears some resemblence to an engine, then it is your check engine light. They are just using a pic of the motor instead of the famous " Check Engine"

If it is a symbol of an engine. You need to go to Autozone and have the codes read.
If it comes up PO401( a very common code for this vehicle) EGR Flow inusfficient or something like that DO NOT buy a new EGR valve. It is more than likely the DPFE sensor. Parts stores call it an EGR pressure sensor. It is not available from parts stores for a 2000 yet. You have to get it from the dealer. Mike
