the 700r4 tranny has a solenoid inside you have to remove the tranny pan to get to it those can go bad and cause the tranny to malfunction

Re: 88 suburban shifting problems

The only solenoid in a 700R4 is the TCC Lockup solenoid.

The late shift from 1-2 could be a misadjusted TV cable, sticking TV plunger or a sticking 1-2 shift valve.

No shift into 3 or 4 could be servo seals, 3/4 clutch pack, sticking 2-3 shift valve, accumulator valve stuck, tv limit valve stuck or tv valve is stuck.

Since you have coolant get into the case, you may want to pull the valve body to make sure none of the valves are not sticking.

You should also pop the servo cover off and check the seals for the servo. Even if you flushed the tranny, there still may be coolant in the servo.
