Camshaft Position Sensor
Ok,
Had the SES light come on again (and went off a day later), took advice of one of the posters on this forum and had Autozone plug in their computer before I take it to get fixed. It came up a 'Camshaft Position Sensor, Bank 1.' Anyone have any input on this? Similar message? I believe it has to do with the emissions on the car. 2001 525i. Thanks for your replies. Re: Camshaft Position Sensor
Unfortunately, this is what you get from 'generic' scan tools. The only 'banks' BMW refers to on M50's is 1-3 & 4-6 cyl's. Your engine has an intake AND an exhaust Cam Sensor. Both fail but the Exhaust more often than the Intake though the Exhaust is easier to replace [it's on the R/F of the cyl. head].......either throw a dart or get a MoDiC or GT1 Fault Survey to be sure what's actually failed.
