I'm seriously considering buying a used E300D. Can anyone tell me about the reliability of the engine? Any problem areas with the car?
I've heard that the best MB diesels to get are the early 80s models. True? thanks! |

You may not believe it: one of the big problems with this model is rust.
Luck is always needed when you buy a used car. If it is your dream car, find a 300 Diesel in good shape and buy it. I don't believe Mercedes-Benz is really reliable, but I do believe the building quality of the interior is better than average so you won't get annoyed rattles when driving. |

The older Mercedes cars are more reliable indeed:
