heat sheild rubbing

Hi all,
My second posting here, and I've gotta let everyone know, what a huge help this forum was in helping me with my alarm problem..Thanks to all who helped.
So my 89 735 is running (quite well too I might add), first time in about 6 months the car has hit the road.
My problem now is that I have what appears to be a heat shield that has come loose, somewhere above my exhaust, near the front of my car, (by the trans), that I can't see, every time I make a turn, this damned shield apparently rubs my driveshaft, makes a hell of a racket, and draws attention its so loud.
My question is this, does anyone know a good link to find the layout under that area of my car, so that I can at least get an idea about what all has to be removed, before I get up in there, and really damage something lol (feeble lol).
Thanks for your help and input, Matt

Ugh. You may have to remove the exhaust system. I know to get to the driveshaft you have to remove the exhaust first, and since the heat shield is above the driveshaft..., well, I don't see how you can get to it unless you remove the exhaust. Probably pay someone to put it on a lift and see if there's an easier solution. FYI, to replace my driveshaft I paid a shop 3 hours labor.

Here's a link for an exhaust replacement: http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_2.htm

Re: heat sheild rubbing

Thanks Liberty, I've got to say, I actually got under my car, and took some time to see what I could see. Found it to be the very front most edge of the heat shield over my exhaust, it kind of forms over the exhaust and then curvesto mold to the driveshaft, (with only a few mm between the shaft and the shield). A friggin' weight on the shaft was rubbing the shield right at the front (thankfully), was able to take a screwdriver and pry the shield down a bit, problem solved.
I sure appreciate the help though, I'll be asking for more before long. Thanks Matt
