Camaro Type LT

hey guys, a while back i remember someone posted about a fourth gen camaro with Type LT badges, and we all had a laugh calling him a ricer cuz none of us thought the model was real. Imagine my surprise when i found a second gen camaro down the street from where im going to school, went up to see what it was, and its a Type LT. turns out the buggers are real. Its basicly the mid model between the RS and the Z28, and was the top model the years that the Z28 werent offered. The LT stands for Luxury Touring. the Type LT was made from 1973-1978, then was replaced by the berlinetta in 1979.

Now this camaro has my attention, as its been sitting on the side of the road for quite some time, and now ive found out, the keys are in it too. no for sale sign, but obviously the people dont want it anymore, and its not in too bad a shape, so i might be lookin at it if i can nab it for a steal. Ill see if i can take some pics, and decode the VIN to see what im dealin with.

just thought id post it as it was somethin odd that deals with camaros, kinda a random trivia thread lol.

Re: Camaro Type LT

They also ran a very limited production of LTs in 1987 but I think only 700 or 900 or something around that were made. Still never heard of a 4th gen LT though.

Re: Camaro Type LT

ok, went and got some pics, cant load em onto af for some reason, it dont like me password in the gallery section, everywhere else is ok, but not the gallery, go fig.

anyway, decoded it, turns out its a

1978 Camaro Type LT
LG-3 - 305cid V8 - 145hp@3800 - 245lbs/ft@2400 - 8.4:1 compression - 2bbl carb
TH350 auto tranny - 2.41:1 rear gears.

The Type LT package was basicly a comfort package. They had special deep contour front bucket seats, extra sound insulation, imitation leather interior surfaces, extra instrument lighting, glove compartment light, and a one peice hood insulator. they also had color matched rally wheels, and dual sport mirrors, including electronic adjustment on the driver side mirror.

by the way, anyone looking for tech info and numbers stuff on second gen camaros, hit up this site its redickulous.
