Battery?

My car is having a hard time starting. I don't know if it's the battery or the cold weather setting in? It takes a lot of effort to turn over, but it ultimately does. The battery is an Interstate and still under warranty. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Battery?

i doubt its the battery as long as the starter sounds normal. Its probably your injectors or spark plugs.

Re: Battery?

If your starter is struggling to turn the engine over then maybe your alternator is on the way out and not charging the battery properly?? Try recharging your battery. Also check your starter motor out. What age is your car?

Re: Battery?

Start be just giving it a basic checkover, just look to see if there are any signs of damage, oil leaking over it etc Try recharging the battery first, simple problems first then move onto the harder things once the simpler possible problems have been illiminated. If your confident at working on your car you can dismantle the starter motor and clean the pickups etc to make sure a good contact is being made but to be honest I doubt if there will be any problems there.

Re: Battery?

wait a minute is this a no start or a hard start?

hard start - check the battery voltage WHILE cranking should not be below 9.6 volts, check fuel pressure

no start - check for spark and fuel

Does the car start up easily after the car has been warmed up?

I notice some times my starter has some trouble turning over my engine when things get cold outside when i start my car in the morning.
