Hooking up mp3 player to Sony head unit

I recently puchased a 20g mp3 player and want to hook it up to my Sony head unit. Unfortunatley I dont believe it has any inputs other then the cd changer plug. I'm not sure, I'll have to pull the head unit to make sure. I think I can use the Sony xa-300 but don't want to spend that kind of cash. Also I don't plan on adding a cd changer in the future since the mp3 player stores more music. I also don't want to use an FM modulator due to sound quality issues. Anybody know how I can hook the mp3 player up using a rca to mini jack cord? I know they make adaptors for other aftermarket head units but can't find one other then the xa-300.

theres almost always an aux. jack in the back of the HU... check in the corners maybe.. but find any cord that fits your mp3 player and run it to that aux. jack in the back. it should look like a headphone jack.

Your right. There is a minijack and rca inputs. I should have pulled the head unit before asking since its easy to do. I guess I figured there where no inputs since the manual mentions nothing about them. Sony needs to do a better job witht the manuals. Thanks for the help.

I tried to hook up my mp3 player but it would not work. It seems that the rca jacks and mini jack are for a Sony md or cd changer and will only work when hooked up to one of them. I e-mailed Sony and they confirmed this. The only way to attach a mp3 player to this hu is by using the Sony xa-300, The problem is this runs about $100. I don't want to spend that kind of money to just attach the mp3 player. I might as well put that toward a new hu and sell the old one on ebay.
