IBS brakes -- Please help

Hi guys, I've posted before put I guess you guys forgot about me. Anyway my follow up question was. I told the mechanic about your suggestion but he seems to think it has to be the pump b/c if it was hub bearings the noise would continue all the time progressively getting worse. The ABS light is intermittant and the noise seems to appear when car is cold. (I hope I am explaining this right. I tried to take notes!). He is suggesting flushing the brake fluid as a stopgap measure b/c he says the ABS pump would be $1000 for the part alone!! I can't afford that and would like to know if you think flushing would help. In the alternative, is this "hub assembly" thing a big deal and major expense?

Thank you!!

No brakes feel same and it does not sound like metal on metal. The one time a mechanic heard it, he said it sounded like a cable or a pump. To me, however, it sounded like chickens!
Would replacing the brake fluid help?

i have to ask too. do they pulsate when you depress them? b/c too me it seems if something was wrong with the brakes you would know when you use them.

On occassion but it wouldn't have been a complaint if you hadn't asked, meaning I would not have thought of it.

Then why does the mechanic guy insist it is the ABS pump? He says there is nothing else on right side which is where the noise is coming from? I don't get it.

Re: IBS brakes -- Please help

If the pedal pulsates than it is doing its job, it means that the ABS system has been triggered and that is what happens when the abs system kicks in.
