Thinking about a 01 sc2

I went looking at cars this weekend and one car i looked at was an 2001 sc2 5 speed. I was just wondering a couple things I like speed and want to get involved in cars like engine mods etc... and I was wondering along the lines of the sc2 if there is alot you can do to it and if its a reliable car. And jus wondering out of curisoty like what kind of acceleration and speed does it have? Does it drive good and smooth? Are the reliable? jus questions like that. Thank you

I had a 94 SC2 (until it's untimely demise). The car was phenomenal!! I had the 1.9L, DOHC (same as that 01) and also had the 5-speed. At about 138k, I had to replace the clutch. Otherwise, the car ran without problems. I'll give you the site of the place where I bought my clutch from. www.genuineoem.com Not to say you'll ever have to replace yours, but just and "FYI" bit. As for a Buick ride verses a Saturn...the Saturn is designed with the idea of performing and handling. By contrast, my 1991 Century (yes, I replaced shocks and struts a few years back) handles nice and smooth...just went from the Buffalo area to just south of Cleveland (some 230miles) this past weekend...the car almost put me to sleep. I'd definatly buy the 2001. It'll run, last long, and should be problem-free...
