AWD system in Denali
let argue about something more important than a popping muffler
![]() the AWD system in my 03 Denali s^cks. I already got stuck in 8" of snow. It is NOT a viscous coupling like the amazing AWD system in my 95 Safari van. In my 95 van, I drove through 2 feet of snow No problem. This Denali AWD is so poor, I could never consider going off roading, or on the beach. I wouldn't even waste my money on a beach permit for my Denali, I'd spend more money getting tow out !! I believe they use the ABS sensors to determine where the power should be, and then power either the front or rear wheels depending. Surely not for serious winter driving. even the open diff is a joke. limited slip was not even optional !! |

Re: AWD system in Denali
I hear ya; I think I read that the locking diff will be available on '05 Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban that have the Stabilitrak option; dunno if this means the same for Denali since it uses a different AWD system than that available for Yukon (full-time 4WD, dunno if it was available in '04 but was available in '03)...

Re: AWD system in Denali
Wow. Did you try disabling the Stabilitrak system?
Just guessing, but I'd estimate that 0.00000021% of Denali owners consider taking them offroad or on the beach. ![]() Take care, Jerry

Re: Re: Re: AWD system in Denali
I have to take mine off road when I take the ATV's out. I cringe when I am on a narrow trail and a branch touches the side of the Denali. So far I havent had a problem with losing traction and I am pulling a trailer with 2 ATVs on it. 8 inches of snow is not that much, I am suprised that it would get stuck.
