Hey guys,

This has prolly been asked many times but i was just wondering what the top speed of a stock 1997 Grand Prix GT is (with and without the governor).

Re: Top Speed

Well the only governor is the PCM. That is what holds it back.
114 was hit by mine, before I changed PCMs. The reprogramed PCMs have limiters shut off, well not really off. They set them at 255 MPH. Tried to take my GTP to "top end". But something always gets in the way.
Hope that helps.

Re: Top Speed

If it is turned off, what would you say the top speed would be stock for a GP GT?

wouldn't the next limiter with the reprogrammed pcm be the tire rating?

Top Speed Must See

YOU WILL NEED TO SEE MY CAR - CARDOMAIN.COM - SICK YELLOW GTR ONE OF NONE GTP.

I HAVE NOT TOPPED MY CAR OUT BUT I HAVE HIT 156MPH WITH ABOUT 500 POUNDS INSIDE THE CAR - THAT WAS ME MY GIRLFRIEND LUGGAGE AND THE SYSTEM.

THERE WAS STILL ROOM TO GO - IF I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CAR AND THE TEMPS WERE AROUND 40 NOT 85 AND HUMID I WOULD OF SEEN CLOSE TO 170 MPH.

IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THIS - GO SEE THE CAR FOR YOURSELF.

I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY EVERY DAY AND LET ME TELL YOU AT 80MPH IF I HIT IT I CAN BE AT 130 PLUS WITHIN 1/4 MILE AND STILL GOING - AS TO HOW i KNOW - SIMPLE THE HUD OR HEADS UP DISPLAY NEVER STOPS SO YOU CAN TELL AFTER THE SPEDO BURIES WITHIN 10 SECONDS OR LESS.

CARDOMAIN.COM YELLOW GP FOR SALE SICK...

ENJOY AND CHECK THE CAR OUT'

Re: Top Speed

I race on US 19. Speed limit is 55 MPH. I race 0 to 60. Pisses all the Mustangs off. They can't catch me in that zone. Their V8 don't make the RPMs that mine does. Also, from a dead start, my tires burn about 5 feet and grab. They always seem to want to light theirs up. As soon as they do, they lose.
Last speeding ticket I got... 8/1971. In my 350/ 400HP 1970 Nova. Speed 125 in a 40. Last ticket, same car. Pulling wheels off the ground in a drive in food place in Port Huron, Michigan. Cop keep telling me how much he liked my car, all the time he was writting ticket.

HERE'S the car he's talking about. It really looks great but I'm gonna have to throw up the BS flag on the numbers he's giving.

If I had all the goodies listed on his CarDomain page I'd have a copy of a time slip from the track or something to show what it's capable of. Also, not one "Under-hood" pic......just a bunch of manufacturer's advertisement pics.

If your car does what you say then you, my friend, are a bad-ass and I salute you. However, with the evidence presented, I'm not convinced. No offense intended.
