Caprice Compression Ratio

I was wondering if anyone had the statistics on the Caprice compression ratios for '86 to '93 for the police package 350. I know the compression ratio of the '94 to '96 LT1 was 10.5:1 but I cannot find the ratio for any other year (pre-LT1, so it would be the L05). Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Caprice Compression Ratio

You need to buy the book Chevrolet Police Cars by Edwin J Sanow.

89 was 9.3
90 was 9.8

Thanks for the info. Is this book readily available or will I have to hunt for it? I've really been interested in finding any materials on police package Caprices. What is included in the book?

Re: Caprice Compression Ratio

It covers everything from 1955-1996. It gives some specs and give Michigan State Police tests for some of the years for all makes tested.

Amazon.com carries the book.

You can find specifications on '90 and earlier Caprices here:

http://www.geocities.com/onamarie.geo/chevy.html

Look on the left side of the page and you may have to scroll down. It has the specifications for 1977 through 1990.
