Head gasket on 3.4L Impala

Yea so i found out my head gasket blew any1 had to have this replaced? I talked to a mechanic and the told me its "catastrophic" on the impala. Now i know people that replace theirs all the time and they say its a piece of cake but the only prob is u have to take the engine apart. So any1 know how much it might run? Thanks.

Intake ?

My 2001 was having problems with Low Coolant indicator then temp gage went south. (Car was still running great) Dealer checked out and said intake manifold had leak. Looks like something going on, ended up dealer replaced sensors, thermostat and head gasket (at least $600.00+ bucks) and did not charge me!!! car has 67000 mi said something about customer relations.... Not looking gift horse in mouth but this was a first....
