heater control not working

Hi everyone. Usually over with the DSM's but I have a friend whos 01 Sebring sedan fan control stopped working. It started where #1 setting didn't work and progressively the other #'s stopped. I'm not sure if I need to replace the controls themself or the blower motor.

Anyone else experienced this? TIA!!
