diffence between sil80 and 240sx

well i had always thought the sil80 was a mix of the 180sx and silvia but i wasnt sure if it was named the 240sx, i like the looks of the 240 a little more than my 1990 300zx what do you guys think ?

the sil80 was a rare nissan that was produce in very limited quantity, and from what i have read online [kind of believe its false unsure though], the original sil80's were made by drifters, basically people that had 180sx's when they would get into accidents drifting down mountains they would purchase silvia front end becuase they were cheaper due to longer production and i guess the pop up lights were exspensive, without going to shops i guess mount the new front, due to increase in occurance of this nissan decided to make a test batch.

it was a cross between the 180sx and the silvia, basically the 180 with the front of the silvia

the 180sx is the 240sx fastback, and the silvia looked like the S13 coupe except with headlights that didnt pop up

ya i like the 240 look over the 300zx late model, well at least the fastback 240, the coupes i think i would choose the 300zx

the name 240sx originated from the engine size just like 200sx, 2000 NX, 300zx,350z, and i think also for infiniti Q45, G35

240sx = 2.4 liter, 300 = 3.0, etc

Pretty much on the money. The Japanese drifters started doing Sileighty conversions because the Silvia headlights were a lot cheaper than the 180SX popup ones.

Not 100% who actually built the factory Sileighties, I heard it was an independent workshop, not sure how many they built either.

KidsHeart built the actual Sileighties. As I understand they were distributed through Nissan dealers one year only. KidsHeart still does the conversions. When Nissan dealers were distributing them only a handful were actually sold. ...maybe 500.

One other reason the silvia front end is pt on is because it is lighter than the pop-up headlights 180sx front end. Just thought I would throw it in. I personally think if you have a fast back model 240, keep it that way. If you have the coupe 240, then do the silvia conversion. I like the cars to look how they were meant to be.

ya rather than doing a sil80 type look to my fastback i was going to make it look like the 180sx type X

oh i didnt know that the car was produced by a thirdparty, but i do remember that the number sold was somewhere like 400 to 500 it wasn't too big

The coupe with pop-ups would be called the One-Via I guess.

Yes it's called a Onevia. You rarely see them in Japan, but occasionally someone wants to be different so they do it. So yes in the US we got 180SX and Onevia, and then of course the s14.

Only stupid retards smoke pot. Have some respect for yourself.
