Can't nail the downshift!

Okay.

So, maybe I'm not above asking for help.

I just can't get the downshifts on my Protegé5. I've had quite a bit of luck in other vehicles. I've been driving it for a year now, and my heel and toe downshifts tend to be revved a little high or a little low, so I'm bouncing the car about quite a bit. I've read that the car is geared a little low, so maybe that's my issue, but I'm just not getting around this. I'm starting to think about taking a course with an instructor, but I can't really afford that sort of thing right now.

Anyone have some wisdom they can share?

your timing with the clutch might be off. try letting off a little sooner after you blip the throttle. it also helps having a sensitive foot for braking. sometimes people stomp on the brakes too hard and it kind of throws everything off. i'm not sure how the pedal position in that car is, but if your feet aren't comfortable, maybe you should get some pedals. hope this helps.
