valve cover gasket
I was driving with the vent on today and noticed a burning oil smell on my 96 gls 2.0. Opened the hood and saw that some oil was leaking around the valve cover. How hard is it to change the gasket. I already see that the plenum needs to be removed. Any one done this before? Anything I need to look out for?
Please help. Thanks |

Re: valve cover gasket
It's all pretty straightforward, just b carefull with the crankcase vent hoses, cap & pipe coming from the valve cover. They hard plastic usually get brittle & will break easily if pulled on & the rubber hose gets soft & will fall apart.

Re: valve cover gasket
its actually pretty simple, just dont force anything and dont get messy around the cam.....when oil is leaking its not always the valve cover either..it can be that piece that is on the over that is kinda like an oval with 2 tubes coming out of it...if that is bad you get leaks...if thats the case get one from a junk yard and inspect it for any leakage, because ur gonna need the whole piece
