stumped big time

need help now .been at it to long and its getting cold out.ok i have a 1983 s-10 pickup ,2.8 4 speed.over 125,00 heres whats up first i had no trouble with it then bamm.it caused me hell. i drove about 10 miles died like out of gas. ok start it run alittle stop.finally got home and then went to work on it. changed fuel pump ,filter, coil. cleaned ot carbed was really dirty. put in plugs ,wires, whew enough huh nope did all this in two weeks because till i get home its dark not fun doing it by a hanging light.ok sry back to it well i mget in amd start it it fires up right away put is missing big time, looked under hood and the coil is arcing around the coil not the mounts. so exchanged it for another new. put on and same thing.check motor its grounded got power to all plugs. need help thanks guys

Check the plug gap if you haven't, Other than that I don't know what would cause the arching. To to me is sounds like you could really use 1 or 2 bottles of gas line anti-freeze, which is probably why it acted like it was out of gas

Methol Hydrate is the same thing and a-lot less money if you buy a big bottle

you have too high of a resistance in the wires, spark plugs, cap and rotor. the spark is finding it easier (less resistance) to jump to the negative terminal on the coil. replace cap and rotor as the gap in the cap and rotor is probably excessive. regap plugs, make sure you have the correct wires and make sure they are on all the way and sealed.

Thks busa will check out wires and plugs cap and rotor. will let you know wont get to it till tomm. got CDL school till 4.30 and wont get to it till around 600 thks again WILL
