Thumbs up looking for a good cheap wheel source

i need to find a good sight where i can find wheel and tire combos for about $800. 17" is what i am in the market for, possibly tenzo shu4 for a 92 hatch. any help is appreciated. i have serched ebay, wheelsnext and tire rack but they all seem pricey and offer the same wheels.

They're not Tenzos like you mentioned, but if you want an inexpensive 17 wheel/tire combo, wheelmax has some inexpensive 17" wheel/tire combo's.

I do not know much about Exel wheels. They are likely cast and not forged wheels for the price. However, there are many "name brand wheels" that are cast also. A cast wheel is not as strong as a forged wheel, but forged wheels are typucally much more spendy, especially due to the fact they are name brand to boot more pften than not.

Exel is not a name brand wheel and is most likely cast versus forged. These are probably 2 factors contibuting to the cheaper price. This in itself doesn't makle it bad, it's just contributing factors to the price.

For example, most of the newer RH Evolution line of wheels are cast and not forged, yet they are quiet spendy by comparison.

My best advice is if you get Exel wheels, just make sure you get the proper bolt pattern (4*100) and the proper wheel offset for the wheel size you choose. If you do this it will fit correctly. Beyond that get the best tires they offer on it for handling, as the tires are what keeps you planted to the road, not the wheels. Wheels with no tires do no good, lol. A cast wheel like that will be fine for driving, though it won't be as strong as a forged wheel, so potholes, etc...are more likely to damage it (bend it, crack it, etc). Just remember, stay away from potholes with rims, forged, cast or otherwise!!!

Re: looking for a good cheap wheel source

thanks for that tid bit, i try to avoid potholes out here on base but its hard when heavy trucks travel the road and constantly tear up the streets. i have decided to go with exel over name brand till i can either get rich or the military ups its pay, thats really interesting with the difference between forged and cast. i think thats what lead to the demise of my last set of wheels, i hit one to many pot holes and then i started having a little music in the back that wasnt coming from the speakers and the muffler. any who thanks
