Timing

Hello

I know this isnt the OLDS section but you guys seem to reply more then the OLDS section...

I have a 93 3.1 Silhouette.

I am trying to time the engine. The manual, Chiltons, says that there is a wire (tan, black) that I have to disconnect. The manual also says its on the passenger side inner fender. There is a harness there but with no wires that I can disconnect. I cant find the wire...

What is the procedure I should use?

How can I tell the difference of the van running on the ecm or not?

(Somewhere I read with the wire disconnected the vehicle runs off of default settings or no settings at all...???)

Re: Timing

THey say black and tan wire near the right hand suspension tower: it has to be GROUNDED to do the timing procedure. ?!? No clue on how or where it can be hidden.....
Indeed, this procedure allows to set basic timing without the corrections brought by the ECM.
It is almost not possible to feel the differences unless you would connect and disconnect this wire while running the engine or vehicle in stable conditions.
