Hi, There is a smoke colored plastic dome that fits over the headlight sensor on the dash of my 2000 Silverado. The prob is, it fell off and down my defrost vent
The lights don't come on when they are supposed to as the tinted dome being gone, they think its lighter outside. Where can I get a replacement dome for this without replacing the whole sensor? Thanks Dina PS...How do get your pic of your truck under your post? |

Re: Headlight sensor
I cant help you with the first question. but here is the answer to the first.
click on the word gallery at the top and log in to that. then click on "upload picture" on the right side of the screen. click the "browse" button and select your picture off your computer drive. ( It will have to be cropped to smaller than 50K i believe) Then hit upload image. It will upload it then it will show a small picture of it click on it and it will give you your link. If you need more help post back.

Re: Headlight sensor
Did the Sensor fall down into the dash? IE leaving a hole in the dash where it use to be? Or did it actually go down the vent; Did you take it out and that's where it landed?
If it's the latter, then you'll prolly have to buy a new sensor; sometimes you can find them on eBay or you'll be heading off to the dealer for a new one. If it's the prior and it's just dropped down just, remove your dash ring, remove your stereo and you'll see the sensor and wires next to your vents just shove it back up in place and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Re: Re: Headlight sensor
No, I didn't lose the sensor itself. There is a smoke colored plastic dome that covers the "sensor". When the cover is off, the sensor itself is actually about the color of this background (grey-like). The smoked dome makes the sensor think it is darker than it really is so your headlights come on when they are supposed to at dusk and go off at dawn. Without the cover, it gets too much light and the headlights dont come on until it is completely black.

Re: Headlight sensor
Ohhhh I see. What if you through a piece of Window film over it or something that would do the same function. I'm not sure if you can get just the dome.
Sorry.
