1985 Chev Celebrity no spark

I have a 1985 Chev Celebrity & it has no spark.
I just started my car after it has sat for a year. It ran for 5 min. & died (understandable). When I tried again it would not go. I pulled a plug to check it & when I did the end of the wire came off. I went & got new wires & a new coil (why not) but they did not have a cap. Replaced everything & still it will not fire. I put a screw driver in the coil wire & turned it over & the was no spark coming out the coil. I know "just because it is new, does not mean it works" but I some how doubt that it is a dead coil. Any ideas?
Thanks
Doug

Ok now I have a new cap & rotor. The car starts, runs for 5 minutes & quits. I pull off the plug wire, put a plug in & no spark. When the car runs, it purrs like a kitten.
