Question Pistons/Rods/Cams for ZC?

Would I need to get those parts for the 88-89 teg? I know cams must be since the civic engine is SOHC, but I wasn't sure about the rest. Also, don't a few companies make ZC Headers?

Im "GUESSING" but id say headers for a 86-89 teg would work because they are basically the same engine. only thing is when you put them into your car they probably wont line right up to your stock exhaust, probably stick back too far so the flanges dont meet.

thats where Custom exhaust comes in

umm, i'm pretty sure the cams are for the 89 teg, rods u can use B18 rods, pistons u can get aftermarket for the motor if u bore it and such cuz they will hafta be bigger then. and any machine shop can cut the tops for ur valve clearance

You mean the cams because they are a DOHC!

Hmm any d-series header should work also!

no, he asked if needed parts for the 1g teg, he then said he knew cams must be since the civic is SOHC. meaning he obviously couldnt get a cam for a SOHC, and he said camS plural so I knew that he knew his was DOHC.

Rods from any D16 engine work. Pistons also. Cams, im almost positive that they need to be zc specific cams. Crower Cams makes regrinds for I think it was $80 each. As for the header, just get one from an 88-91 civic and port match it with a die grinderor dremel, its not too hard at all.

Re: Pistons/Rods/Cams for ZC?

well, as far as I know they have 2 routes they go, one they weld on your cam and then remachine it to what specs you want and the other is no welding, they reduce the base circle diameter so that when valves are closed you can tighten the followers alot more and when the lob comes around there is more lift. they probably do also do a bit of machining to keep all the lobes symetric but not sure.
