Who has the most miles

I would like to know who has the most miles on their Aurora and what has been the most costly expense. Please reply with total miles to date, year and total cost and description of any major repairs not covered under any factory warranty. Threads without repairs I will assume you have a perfect car.

I will start with my 98 Autoban, 95,000 miles, $450.00 for ignition replacement.

I know of two 96 Aurora's in Atlanta with 250,000+ miles with no major repairs. Can anyone match this?

I hope to get a great response from all of you that own Aurora's in this forum.

Thanks

Unhappy

'97, I bought it in '99 with 35k
Now has 145k

Brake pads - $50
Radiator - $350
SparkPlugs & Wires - don't remember
Oil changes every 3 months
Transmission Filter & Fluid once a year
All work performed by me

Of course...Thursday my wife killed my car by smackin a guard rail...EVERY body panel is destroyed or deformed in some way. Interior & power train stuff appears to be fine.

Will prolly post on E-bay soon to sell it off...

Cool

98 model bought in June 2002 with 51,000 at Autoplex in Denton, Tx.
Have 149,500 on it today.

New AC Compressor at 52,000.

New Michelins at 75,000.

Disks twice, miles unknown.

Plugs and Wires 110,000.

Battery in May 2003.

Radiator - classic passenger crack , 125,000.

Alternator at 130,000. Had work done at the stealer, Over $500.

Silverstar Low beams in June 2004

Broken power window wire in drives door jam. Repaired with bullet connectors September 2004.

Replaced driverside Axle Bearing October 2004. Only took about 45 minutes. After reading of the horror story and viewing photos by Rorastar I was nervous.

All issues seem to compare with others posted here regularly. They built them all the same!
Change fluids on time and check the air in the the tires.

I have driven it a ton of miles and it has held up well.
Only auto I ever liked better was my old 74 El Camio. Dated my wife in school driving that auto. No car can EVER compare with the times I had in that car with her. :-)
I hope to get around 250,000. I have placed that on my last several autos successfully. 1988 Blazer, 1985 Grand Am, 1980 Cutlass and 1978 Toronado. All were used when purchased.

Re: Who has the most miles

160,000 miles on mine. It's kind of nice to see the repairs people had done. It seems like all of the auroras have about the same problems. I've had about all the problems everyone listed (other than alternator and waterpump). So it is nice knowing that I might be towards the end of the repairs needed. I've had my transmission pulled once, abs traction fixed once, a few months ago, i had to replace my radiator, i am doing my brakes in a few days, just had my AC compressor replaced, my battery died about a year ago. A lot of problems. Pretty much what everyone else had wrong. So I am expecting for my water pump to go out soon, my alternator to die, and my shocks to die (which it seems like my car has been riding very stiff lately), then I should be all set forever with my repairs!!!

Re: Who has the most miles

Jim56 who is charging those kind of prices? $300 for the belt and $450 for wires and plugs is totally outragous!
After you have done the belt once it is a fifteen minute job. I used a two foot peice of brake line to make a tool for the job. Just bend the last couple of inches 90 degrees and flatten it out. Makes it a peice of cake. The first time I spent more like an hour.

1995 with 57,000 four years ago 118,000 now
-brake pads, front and rear
-rear shocks
-plugs/wires
-one coil
-shift solenoids
-water pump-did all hoses and belts at the same time
-EGR stuck twice. Paid for it the first time, not second
-fuel rail leaked as recall started
-Mobil1 every five to six thousand miles
-tranny fluid and coolant with Bars Leak Gold every fall
-for the last the last few months it has been making the "pop" sound in the left front when turning right
-I did all the work except the EGR the first time. I had no idea what was going on. I've learned a lot from this and a couple of other boards. Pretty minor repairs for the miles and age of the car. I would not hesitate to take of cross country in it right now.

Re: Who has the most miles

Bought a 95 with about 50,000 in 2000.

Replaced:

* New transmission - 2 g's
* New fuel rail - 500 (finally getting reimbursed from GM for this)
* New tires - 500 (or so)
* New brakes - ? (midas)
* New rear shocks/struts 300

Added:
* New Mini Disc Stereo unit 200
* New 10 cd changer 200

To come (possible next summer):
*ALL new speakers
*Headrest monitors
*DVD / PS2 installed
*GPS

All in all I've put more or less 3-4 grand into it.
Its got 95,000 miles now...going strong...just need to repair some minor dings and a new paint job.

Re: Who has the most miles

I've only had mine since Feb. this year. '95, 157000 miles. So far, a thermostat, plugs, all fluids & filters changed, a couple light bulbs that were out when I got it and a cleaned EGR. For fun, new wheels and tires (17's) and new pipes. Other than big money going into gas, this has been the cheapest operating car I've had to date all for $3500.

Bought our 1997 in May of this year with 91000 kms on it and we currently have about 105000 kmson it.

Started with new Amzoil Synthetic Oil & Filter
New Alternator in June - Warranty
Waterpump Belt in July - $15.00 (easy job,did myself)
AC Compressor Clutch August - $178.00 (Garage)
Steering Rack in November (rebuilt one) - Warranty
Waterpump in November - Warranty
Thermostat in November
Oil Cooler Hoses (cost $180.00 for both + $50.00 labour)

And in December I will put a new gas filter in and do a Tranny oil change as well as a fresh Synthetic motor oil change.
We love the car and I think I can justify the repairs sofar. I know that these are things that are regular wear and replace items around the kms I have on the car. I bought a Warranty with the car for 3 years were I pay the first $150.00 of the repair bill.

Re: Who has the most miles

I need somebody to post that says they have a car with over 160,000 miles on it. (Not somebody that knows somebody that heard somebody whisper to somebody else they they may have seen an aurora with 250,000 miles on it.) It's sad, my car has the most miles on it which means other people aren't posting because all of theirs died at about 150,000 to 160,000 miles. Not a lot to look forward to now. Come on people. Somebody can beat my 160,000 miles!!!

Re: Who has the most miles

Mine has 193,200 miles on it now. Tranny was rebuilt before I got it last year, water pump in June, recall work last month. Other than needing new rear shocks, the car runs fine. Traction control light goes on and off, but that has no ill effects. I never owned a car that had it, so I don't miss it. I just wish it had more low end torque. It seemed a lot faster when I first got it!

If I could find another Acura Legend, I would sell my Aurora in a heartbeat though! It's still a good running luxurious car though. It's great on long road trips.

One of these cars is owned by a buddy of mine at work, it has 263,000 on it now, I checked the odometer myself, a radiator is the only replacement. As for the other, a friend of his works at GM Assembly in Doraville and stands by the word. One I can vouch for...
