Re: warranty question..
In the long run Im sure it would save you money, since inspection 1's go for about 400 and inspection 2's go around 8-900$ in 2 visits you could of already spent the same amount.

I would recommend an extended warranty... BUT be very careful on what you get. I have purchased an extended warranty for my 2001 X5 3.0i and have had it in for service 3 times and in each case the service was not covered by the warranty I purchased. For example..
power window motors are covered, but actuators are not and on the X5 that is what will break. The power motor for adjusting the steering column went out, again not covered by the warranty I purchased. So, as of yet I have not realized the value of paying the $2,400 bucks for my extended warranty, but I expect I may down the road as the miles pile up. My advise would be to read carefully exactly what items are or are not covered so you don't have any surprises when you take it in for service. In each of my examples above I knew ahead of the repair it wouldn't be covered but had the dealer check anyway. It's a tough purchase to make, $2,400 doesn't grow on any tree in my yard, but as Murphy's law goes... if you don't have it you'll have a situation where it would have been needed... |
