Door light stays on in '99

My door light (door open) stays on even when the door is shut. Sometimes it shuts off when I'm driving, sometimes it never shuts off. I even have to keep my inside light turned off because it stays on like the door is open. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Lubricate the latch mechanism.

THis is a very common problem.
