what intake setup is ideal for superchargers?

having tried both a short arm and cai, i haven't noticed much of a difference, if at all. so can anyone tell me which setup is more appropriate for a supercharged prelude? thanks.

i would imagine that niether would be very beneficial because the air is going to get compressed and heated anyway you look at it. i think iranman over at po.com said the hell with it himself because it doesnt really matter. basically just look for a filter that can meet the demands of the blower's consumption. maybe try a foam filter like an hks or a greddy or an apexi. although they dont filter as well and i have never seen any studies on if those extra particles that get through cause any damage to the impellers vs. a standard cotton filter.

also try looking into the hondata intake manifold gasket, yes it would be a major botch to take that hog out of your car to install it but i heard it reduces heat fairly decently. i also came across a place recently that does thermo-powder coating on the exteriors and intake tracks of turbos and superchargers that is supposed to help dissapate the heat more efficiently then just bare metel.

i still have a few minor things to do to the car to get the most out of the blower but so far i love it. i've already made prey to a couple mustangs which beat me before i had the blower. but i got a wrong belt on and need to readjust the fuel pressure, whch i need a gauge for. the one i had broke. so it's not quite at its full potential yet. thanks for your reply.

what altitude are you at, and how does it run. We are looking to get a little more out of my gf's 2000 prelude now that it's almost out of warranty. The only problem is I have seen a few civics with JRSC's installed that have blown, and even installed one on a 2000 SI and it blew. We are at 5800 ft above sea level, and the ones that blew stock engines were having detonation problems. We had ruled out the SC for a while because of this, but damn that SI drove nice with it and it still hasn't left my mind. One of the things we were looking into was the AEM standalone. Kinda going off track, but I was just curious if you have had any major problems, if not, were there any extras other than the kit that you added fuel pump, injectors, etc. Also, did you install it yourself, or have a shop do it. It seems since the prelude kit is on top of the intake manifold it may not be as hard as the Civic SI kit that is underneath. Any advice would be appreciated.

well other than a wrong belt i haven't had any problems at all. i still need to do a couple minor things to it to get the most out of the charger. the h22 is a much stronger engine than your engine. were you running on stock internals? iv'e heard that it's easy to blow up the civic engine. i dont' know exactly what altitude i'm at, but i'm only 30 min southeast of chicago so it's not bad at all. the JRSC for the lude is designed to work with stock internals. a new fpr, fuel pump yeah but not injectors or any of that. i would think the same goes for civics. but i'm not sure.

It actually wasn't my civic, a friend of mine, and I installed the bastard for free, aren't I nice. But all he had for fuel was the fpr that came with the kit. have you run it at the track? How was the installation? What did you pay for the kit, if you don't mind me asking, I was just looking at their site and they want 3600 for the SH prelude, that's a lot more than the civic SI kit, almost $1000

yeah i know the kit for the lude is more expensive for the lude. i paid about $3500. the only problem i had was an oil leak. i took the thing apart three times before it got fixed. the lude type sh requires an oil relocator kit so you can change the oil filter. without it, you'd have to remove the charger every time you needed to change the oil filter. but once i took care of that, everything else went smoothly, well besides the wrong belt. i haven't ran it on the track yet. i'm gonna do that once i take care of the little things, get that belt fixed, a new fuel pressure gauge, etc.

thanks for the info it is sort of back into consideration, the other option is a greddy turbo kit if they ever come out with the SH one.
