Silly questions

I don't mean to post a redundant thread.

I know of a person who is getting ready to pawn her Olds 442.

I just glanced at it today.

All I know is it's a 442 Convertable
I didn't ask the year because my mouth fell open.
70 ish?

Black top. The top is electric? Don't know if that was an option.
It has Air Conditioning
It has been rebuilt

Color looks to be a faded dark blue. Some thin white pin stripping on the hood two rectangles.

It's a dual exhaust with the tips looking like trumpets.

No fancy body molding

What and where do I look for to see if the engine numbers all match?

I think I may be able to get the car for a song and a dance.

Oh and the body is straight with some minor hood and door dings. No rust from what I can see.

Any kind people have the time to give me a quick Olds 442 lesson?

Re: Silly questions

why do you need to see if the numbers match, if the motor looks rebuilt then it probably was and the numbers wont match whats under the hood. usually there is a stick under the dash, ort in the door jam that gives you details about the car if not the only other thing woulb be the owner manual. check the web guy the olds 442 its a rough car, big time gas gussler, but fun and easy to work on, not hard to maintain, but its rough to start on cold mornings, if it stil ahs its manual choke and throttle pull cable. there is alot going on that our electronics take care for us now and days. it could be more of a head if anything else if you truely dont know whatsd going on.
