2002 sierra 1500 transmittion problems

I recently purchased my 2002 Extended cab 1500 gmc. Automatic tranny.
I noticed shortly after that sometimes when first giving the truck gas that there would be a clunk sound, this also happens sometimes when it goes from firrst to second gear. I took this to the dealer and they told me this was normal.
Can anyone confirm that this would be considered "normal"? And if not do you have any ideas on what it could be?

Yeah... Mine did it too. Took it to the dealer - they pulled the drive-shift and loaded the slip joint with some kind of monkey snot ("special lube", they called it). Hasn't been an issue since...
