Re: methanol

I've never tried working with meth. I don't know enough about it to tell you anything on it. Every car responds differently to different things. Good luck.

Methonol can be used as a fuel source for a serious engine. Methonol should be use by itself not mixed in with gas. In a gas/methonol applicatoin the fuel system should be drained and flushed when changing between fuels. It will live up to immense compression making high boost/high compression easy. The trouble is that it needs high compression inorder to ignite. It also needs a high powered ignition to light off. Fuel mixes will have to be very rich. You will need a new fuel system and a remaped ecu to use it. There are serious corrosion issues with methonol use. It will corrode your cylnders, pistons, rings, etc. O-rings and rubber seals exposed to metonol(I.E. the o-rings on your injectors) will not live long. It is also one hell of a degreaser. It will wash your cylnders clean of oil. All this leads to a powerful motor that will not live long. If you are considering it for a serious drag motor its not a bad choice, as long as you have the budget for maint. I wouldn't use it for anything other than a serious competitoin engine though. The costs and reliability issues are too great.

i see what you are saying about the corrosion, but what about fuel blends
i can also get ethanol and pure octane... i was wondering if theres any combo or any other additives that i can mix to make a high boost fuel additive, w/o seriously damaging my engine... if anyone has any ideas about any chemical boost, let me know, i work in a chemikal factory, so i can get lots and lots of raw exotic materials... hit me, n thanks for responding so quick

Re: methanol

Deisel guys use propane, might want to try looking into that. I had tampered with that idea during the early stages of my car but went the normal safe route like everyone else.

Wink Re: methanol

Propane is not a good idea in a gasoline engine. Leave it to the deisel guys. Sorry I'm not a fuel chemist. I just buy AV gas at the local airport. If you work at a chem factory there should be some chemists there. See if one of them can brew something up. Let me know if it works or simply launches your psitons through your hood.
