1994 Chevy Blazer System design

My freind just got a 94 Blazer as his 1st car. He wants to put a system in it, and he will listen to mostly Drum and Bass, Trance, a little rap, and maybe some alt. rock/punk. He doesnt that much about car audio, so he asked me to help him out. Heres what he was thinking for his subwoofer setup:
Q-Logic QLH-1.2512DE Box
(2) Power Acoustik FUBR-12 Subwoofers

Are the subs any good? I have read good reviews, so I just wanted to get some opinions on what amp, head unit, and speakers he should get.

He is getting the subs wholesale, and he can also get most amps, speakers, and HU's wholesale too. The only requirements he has for the HU are:
KNOB, not buttons for Volume adjustment
Remote
Good Equalizer that is easy to customize
If you dont know what Drum and Bass is, it is SORT OF like techno, but with really deep and wicked basslines. head over to www.breakbeat.co.uk and give it a listen!

Re: 1994 Chevy Blazer System design

where in god's name did you read good reviews of FUBR subs?

please tell me it wasn't on those "feedback" things on places like sounddomain and epinions....my doorknob has a higher IQ than most of those people

anyway, what is his budget?

Re: 1994 Chevy Blazer System design

Agreed. not only are thoes woofers about as good a quality as the dump i took this morning but prefabed boxes (even seald designs) resonante like crazy and distort music gretly.

what your friend needs is two of these:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=295-366&DID=7

one of these:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=295-185&DID=7

and a set of 5.25 or 6.5 comps, maybe cdt

and 2 amps, one 4 channel for the 8's and 15, and one 2 channel for the comps. how about a nice pioneer headunit, and a 2 way active crossover. i bet this is more complicated than what your friend wanted, but for his kind of music those 8's are a must, and one 15 will do. and he will need some nice speakers for the vocals and higher frequencies.
