H22 swap

I dont know if this question has been asked before, but I will ask it anyways. How hard is a h22 swap into a 00 civic. Someone told me that when swapped, the power steering is lost. But to just go ahead and grease the rack up real well to offset that. Whats the truth on this subject? And how hard is the swap? Is there really weight issues? Please help me out. Thanks

Re: H22 swap

I added a post at the end of that thread about hte "weight issue". It's not true at all, it's the way the motor leans. And the weight of the motor is shifted differently than the D's and B-series motors. This is what causes the understeer, and not that the motor weighs more.

Re: H22 swap

with a good suspension setup the car will handle fine. If you brake right the back end seems to like to slide out a lot more but thats fun

Re: H22 swap

Try to get a turbo for the H22 there's a guy here in Omaha that did it in his 93 or 94 Civic hatch and that thing is evil.

Also would I need to replace the axles or anything like that? New motor mounts too right?

Re: H22 swap

yeah man; you'll need new axles, mount kit, shiftlinkage. I'd recommend looking on www.honda-tech.com on the EG+ forum and look thru the FAQ page. There is a ton of info and write-ups on the swap. It's not a simple swap like the B-series are (not that B-series swaps are simple, but the H/F-series swaps are harder to do).

It's impossible. Nobody's ever done it before.

Re: H22 swap

Oh yeah you're right it can't be done. I was thinking about the '92-'95 Civics not the '96-'00 ones.
