'97 Monte Carlo Turn Signal

My 1997 Monte Carlo's left turn signal does not work when the signal lever is all the way down and locked. If I hold it half way down when indicating lane change or turn, it works fine. I pulled out the lever and looked at it, fiddled a little bit with the steering, replaced the signal lever, and it still has the same problem. The right signal works normally as does the hazard flashers. Any suggestions?
Thanks...
Tom

Re: '97 Monte Carlo Turn Signal

I had my 1999 Monte turn signal replaced twice.

It appears to be a common problem.

Glad I found this message board. Are there any others like it?
