Re: V2 cold air intake

Same as every other intake on the planet 3-5hp. Get any intake you want (there are only pros when it comes to open-element intakes) but don't expect to get the ridiculously inflated hp gains that companies state on their websites. In actuality every intake is relatively the same, save yourself some money and get a no-name brand on ebay for $40.

Re: V2 cold air intake

^While net gains (as Igovert said 3-5hp) of any sort may be equal, the difference between intakes comes in relation to WHEN the gains are achieved. CAIs provide better low-end results, while SRIs provide better high end. There are your pros and cons in regard to each, floppy. No intake is superior throughout the powerband. It's all about peak volumetric efficiency. And am I the only one that thinks the V2 is a marketing gimmick?

Re: V2 cold air intake

someone did a dyno on an 03 civic si and it made just over 1hp compared to the regular aem cai
one thing about AEM is they make good quality parts, but they also try to make things kinda showy. I think the v2 is pretty but i wouldnt spend an extra 50 bucks on a pretty 1 hp

Re: V2 cold air intake

net gain is 3-5 hp...so the low end and high end difference can't be more than like 2 hp...the human brain can't tell that difference...so like Igovert500 said...stick with the no name for 40 bucks unless u wanna pay 200 bucks so u can say "AEM CAI" in your signature instead of "CAI"

I completely agree 1,000,000 % with the marketing gimmicks that not just AEM uses but all the big name brands in general. They all claim false gains and lead people to beleive that if they need their product when really they don't. Like ignition upgrades on honda B series motors, not needed at all unless you are boosted or using big shots of N20. I agree completely.

Re: V2 cold air intake

yeah its a gimmic, i can make 2 runs on a dyno completely different and say that it is because of the intake, also if you notice for the most part when a manufacturer has dyno sheets the baseline dyno is usually a little less than what it should be

Re: V2 cold air intake

I don't care about any gimmicks or sales pitch. I went from the regular AEM CAI to the V2 and love it. I can't say the gain was substantial, but I do believe there was a gain. .02
