My "potential" stereo
OK well here is what I did, I went into the store and bought what everything that looked like it needed to go into my car. I ended up with this stuff:
Pioneer DEH P6400 Head unit RF 700s 2 channel sub amp 755 actual power RF 500 watt 4 channel amp 655 actual power 2 DEH2 12" RF subs in a sealed box 800 max 1 Farad RF capacitor 2 6.5" FanaticP RF with seperate tweaters 2 6.5" FRC 2206 100 watt rear speakers a butt load of 8 and 4 guage wire as well as a remote cable set (whatever that does) and other assorted cable (I think I got way to much, it's like 7 packages of huge cables) a trunk kit of xtreme dynomate and a kit for the doors All in all (I bought 4 year service plans on all of it cuz I Get the service cheap and if the stuff breaks I get new stuff, hmmm, maybe it will break in say 3 years?) it cost about $1300, retail $2800. None of it is installed yet. I plan to have my friend who did his whole car help me do mine so I can learn how to wire this all. Before I do, I would like opinions on what areas of my system should be changed or what you would do different since I can still exchange some of it if I want to. I ws thinking of either the sony xplod or fosgate MP3 head units (forgot the models) but was told this pioneer has much better sound and has the cool face that plays little movies, as well as is xms read (I don't think I will every use it). Also I was wondering if these fosgates are really better than the CV or pioneers. It seems the guy who was working with me was all about RF. Thanks for any advice. |

The only thing wrong with my head unit is that I kinda wanted mp3 playback, but if the unit is stronger than the sony then I will stick with it and either add in a mp3 cd player seperate or just live with plain old CDs.
I honestly like having rear speakers, so I will probably go with them, although I have never had a car with a sub in the trunk before, if it really turns out bad I will ditch them on ebay or something. I got all the dynomate for (2 door kit plus trunk kit) for like $60 so I don't think it's that bad a deal. The guy apparently gave me the wrong speakers at the store so they are going back either way, prolly for some pioneers although I didn't see any pioneers I liked there (the 6.5" lineup is pretty weak, might decide to cut out custom holes for the bigger speakrs, how hard is that?) but I think I will be sticking to fosgates for the front since they come with the crossover and seperate tweaters and no other ones there do. I am also getting that bridge thing so that my to fosgate amps will be one long amp, it seems like they will be sturdier when I put stuff in the trunk. |

Pioneer has a new mp3 player h/u out... The standard version is 350$, while the premier version is 400$... Kind of odd. For an extra 50$ I'd get the Premier unit.

I was thinking of the kickpods but I like having my cabin all clean and stock looking.
I am already running the components off a 500 watt 4 channel amp, should I get another amp? I could grab a 2 channel amp just for the front I guess, but the speakers are 100 watt max anyway so I don't see how I would get anything more out of it, and I am low on amp space in the back what with the box and two amps already. |
