car died need help

My car recently died in middle of the road... while coming to a stop at a light. My timing was messed up and it wasn't running very smooth to begin with... after it shut off, I tried to start it up again.... the car cranks.. but refuses to start... any ideas from the experts out there?

what kind of car? what mods? put it in your sig so we know. what was the most recent thing you changed? the only thing i can tell you without knowing your car is to check the basics fuel air spark.

Re: car died need help

It's a 420A with 111k on it.... it's a old motor but was running perfectly fine before me and my friend messed around chaning the cam belt. So I'm pretty sure it might be the timing... it's probably off by a little... so the car starts... but has a lot of problems at low idle. I had to spend money to get it towed =(

Re: car died need help

i wouldn't run it until you get the timing right again....you could bend some valves and cause some major damage.

Re: car died need help

I know.. I took the car to a mechanic.... since I really don't know what I'm doing and I don't wanna mess it up further.. the guy called me up and says that I need new pulleys... I think he's bsing me... wanted to ask what you guys think. He says he'll show it to me in person.. I'm going tomorrow to look at it.. what should I look for? Which pulley is he takling about and does it sound right that timing can be affected by belt pulley? Any advice would be appreaciated.. because the damn guy wants to charge me 275 for new pulleys. Money that I don't have.
